Teacher Beatriz,

All the structures were relevants to me. I think that is very important to the teacher or student of English to review structures and to exchange ideas of activities.

The learners like of different activities. They want to listen music, to play games, but I think that is fundamental to raise the students awareness of the importance of reading ,listening , writing , speaking and of the lexical/structures.

How I teach grammar ( Teacher Alessandra)



HOW I TEACH GRAMMAR

I teach in a public School. I must work according to the CBC( Currículo Básico Comum).This CBC of English was made by Reinildes Dias (Ph.D in Educational Technology, Concordia University Montreal, Canada). Her proposal is the Instrumental English. The students use three types of knowledge to learn the English.

WORLD KNOWLEDGE
TEXTUAL KNOWLEDGE
LEXICAL KNOWLEDGE






The proposal aim the competence communicative of students of English. It works with four skills communicative(to read, to write ,to speak, to listen) including into development of each one these skills the reasoning about the knowledge “lexico-sistêmico” being this the fifth skill.
Due to this fact I work the grammar by contextualizing with many types of interesting texts, stories ,comics, poems, charges, proverbs…
By giving them fun activities, by using real examples.
I agree with Jeremy Harmer when he says that the students are interested in to learn grammar with activities like fill-ins and sentences completions. They think that the contextualizing is difficult, but when discover that are capable to develop the five skills by it, change by using this method, they change them ideas. The have adapted well.
I love to teach this way , I wish that it won’t be more a fashion.

Hello!

I liked of the words of Jeremy Harmer a lot .It made me to reflect about some difficulties that I have to teach grammar and my students to learn. It helped me to be more calm about “ the ghost of grammar”.
